Martha McDermott

Martha Rossi McDermott is an LMSW,  with specialty in Adolescents, Family Therapy and Grief counseling. She graduated from the Ehrenkrantz School of Social Work (now the Silver School) at NYU in 1996, and has worked in NYC education programming for at-risk youth, Community based Child Welfare programming for families, and most recently, as the Director of Patient Relations and Community Outreach at a health care provider during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Martha has experience in psychiatric emergency care, inpatient psychiatric care, and community based mental health group and individual therapy.  Martha works with a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques, using a client-centered approach, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Insight focused interview.  Martha has worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, disassociation and PTSD, and with families struggling through grief, trauma, the affects of substance abuse, and general life transition. 

Martha is also a certified mediator, mother of three, and a 30 year practitioner of yoga and meditation.
